Ah, the wonders of parenthood. They weren't new to him, even if this was his 'first' kid. He'd raised Coen from the moment he could leave the pouch, and Roku from before he had even hatched. He was a parent twice over already, so adopting another was both child's play and awesome. It was nice to have another kid around; he really couldn't count Roku anymore, even if he did act like a small child most of the time. Unless he was in his dragon-form, he was essentially just a very tiny child with the speech patterns and such of a 2 year old; Coen was a fully grown adult now and had been for years. Tsume was young, but not an infant; so he was spared diaper changing. Good times. She'd only been living with them for a few months at this point, so things where still in that 'settling in and learning' phase. Hiccups where had, but nothing major really. She had three highly protective parents who where on track to spoil her rotten, as well as two brothers to play with all the time. Roku especially loved this, as he was more on her level in regards to tastes in play and such, and more her size. Coen was always afraid he'd break her, which given his insane size and strength in comparison to her, was a valid fear.

The weather was nice, and there was time to kill. With her mothers off being leaders and busy, it was left to Karukaya to entertain and be Daddy; a task which he was extremely happy to undertake. He was all kinds of ready for some father-child bonding; and he knew just what to do. A market run would be fun; there where all kinds of new and interesting things hitting the markets this time of year, and given money was the absolute least of their worries, he could get her all kinds of new things, as well as pick up the materials for the new gloves he was working on for himself and Coen. He had mostly everything he needed, however he needed a special kind of chakra leather that he'd had to order from outside of the village; trade with Yokuchi was solid, but it did take a fair bit of time to get specialty orders from the desert. Normally you'd be looking at three to six weeks for most items; however anything that was rare, custom, or specialized could take upwards of a year to make it this far; airships or no, craftsmanship demanded time, and the leather-workers of Yokuchi where some of the best in the world.

Being as experienced a father as he was, he knew better than to just go to the market empty handed. He'd learned many years ago to ALWAYS pack a day bag, and he'd never stopped doing that. A backpack for him to carry; filled with his first aid kits (both human and veterinary, he was taking Coen and Roku after all), changes of clothing for Tsume and Roku, things like that. He'd invested in a special wagon a few week prior; it was large, but low to the ground, the kind that was meant to be attached to bicycles or pulled by hand; it was decked out with solid safety rails and enough padding and blankets and even a little shade umbrella to make any child comfortable and happy. There was still plenty of room in the half of the wagon that wasn't converted for Tsume and Roku to ride in, so it wasn't a total waste. Hell, it could even be attached to Coen's vest via special lines so that he could pull it, if needed; so it was extremely versatile and wonderful to have. The tires where made out of solid rubber treated with chakra to be entirely puncture and fire proof, so they never had to worry about that.

The backpack and wagon where sitting just outside the front door on the covered front porch, Coen was standing beside it with Roku sitting in his little carry pouch waiting for Karu and Tsume to walk out. Everything was packed an ready to go; Karu was just being Karu and taking forever to get Tsume cleaned up and ready to go out. He was making sure that she was covered in sunscreen and bug spray; the recent rains had the bugs being nasty as all hell and he wasn't going to let her suffer, even if he'd attached bug netting to the umbrella to give her a nice shield. She wasn't going to want to stay in it the entire time, he knew that, so he made sure to get the spray ready; and to take some with him just in case. "Hold still, I'm almost done." He was finishing up rubbing in sunscreen to her legs and arms, the bottle sitting open and waiting to be used, with the bug spray bottle he wasn't taking sitting beside it to be used after.

The past few months had been interesting to say the least. Being adopted on its own was a scary, interesting, and exciting enough experience for any child on a normal day, but to be adopted by the very family running the village? She had never even dreamed such a thing would happen. But, it had, and she couldn't have been happier. Of course, it was a learning experience for everyone. There was a lot of new things to learn, things to get used to: such as the fact that Tsume very rarely spoke using her mouth and preferred to use telepathy instead. Thankfully, it had been a revelation that was handled better with her new family than it had been with the orphanage owner where she had been staying before being adopted.

She was a very well cared for and looked after child. Her family from day one had seemed concerned about her too small stature and in truth she was shorter and lighter than the averge six year old her age. Physical strength and ability definitely wasn't her strong point.

Normally, she was a quiet and still child; perferring to read books and the like instead of running around and making unnessecary noise: though, she did enjoy a good adventure so long as she was learning things. However, at the moment she was indeed squirming and giggling a little. "Tickles daddy.", she telepathically responded. However, she did attempt to sit as still as possible afterwards; holding her breath with her cheeks puffed out as if doing so would help her from squirming and giggling too much more. It worked, however, somewhat. Her tail and ears still twitched and moved but the rest of her remained almost completely still.

While still holding her breath and attempting to keep as still as possible she tilted her head a bit to the right while her ears twitched a bit as they often did when she was listening hard for something. "Daddy, where's my brothers?", she asked curiously; even her mental voice easily colored with a curious tone.

"Outside waiting, little one. That's why we need to hurry. I have your wagon all ready, and if we don't get moving soon we'll miss all the little shows and such and have to wait another hour to see them." His own voice was playful and amused; he'd never had any issues with how she spoke, given he spoke a dozen or so animal languages himself, and Roku had a sort of telepathy of his own, at least with Karu anyway. Going with the flow was definitely something he was good at, and it came in handy to have that sort of attitude. Really, he couldn't start being anal retentive and picky and traditional now; he was married to a psychotic pyromaniac explosion dog-wolf woman, a literal wolf woman, and had two sons that where anything but human. How many parents could claim that their oldest child was a kangaroo with the mental powers of a human; genius level at that; a literal dragon spirit, and now a fox-girl with telepathic powers. Yeah, traditional they where not. But they liked it that way, so who the fuck cared.

He finished rubbing in the lotion and grabbed the spray bottle, "Stand up, arms up." He waited for her to hop down and do as he asked, making sure to spray every inch of her but her face. To do her face he sprayed the stuff into his palm until there was a little puddle and rubbed his palms together so that he could rub it into her skin without spraying it into her face. That was nasty and unpleasant, he wasn't putting her through it. Roku and Coen didn't have to worry; Coen exuded so much heat that bugs avoided him, and Roku just... didn't get annoyed by them. They never came near him, ever, unless he wanted them too, so there was nothing to worry about. "All done, dear. You have everything? Your charm?" He'd made her a charm similar to the one he'd given to Coen and Roku years and years ago; so long as she had it, he'd always know where she was, and be able to find her; just liked she'd always be able to find Roku or Coen or him, or her way home. A handy thing to have, and he'd given to her the moment they'd brought her home.

Tsume listened as her father responded to her question, stating that her brother's were outside waiting for them. Not wanting to be any later than they were she hopped down when instructed and put her arms arms up with a giggle. While sunscreen lotion and bug spray could have been an annoyance for a normal child Tsume rather preferred it: itchy bites were horrible things to have to contend with and the bugs loved her - perhaps she just tasted sugary? She wasn't sure, but that was the answer she was going with.

She put her arms down when Karu said that she was all done and then nodded to his question. She reached right underneath of the neckline of the red short sleeved kimono she had on and pulled forth a sturdy but thin and light weight chain. From this chain hung the charm she had been given: a very useful thing that she never went anywhere without. "Right here, daddy. I'm all ready!", she responded happily before tucking it safely out of sight again.

"Perfect. Alright, you're ready to go, then. Go outside, Coen will help you into your wagon. I need to make sure the house is locked up tight." Overly cautious, but he wasn't one for risking certain things. Sure, he was reckless and brave with his own life, but the lives of his family was something there was no taking the easy way on. He made sure the house was... well, explosion proof, as well as impossible to break into, but that didn't stop him from checking all the windows and doors while Coen got her settled. He walked out the front door and locked it behind him; reaching down to shoulder the backpack and they where good to go. Roku climbed up out of his little pouch on Coen's shoulder and jumped down so that he could slip into the bug net covered wagon to sit with Tsume; he liked the wagon a lot and wanted to ride in it with her. Coen already had the special lines attached and was ready to pull it himself, even though Karu had specifically set it up himself to have the pull handle for him. Ah, the wonders of brothers. "Well, someone's being nice."

"She likes it when I pull it more.~"

"That's because you race with her. I don't."

"I'm more fun."

"Uh-huh. You're just reckless."

"So? You are too."

"Pffft." He waved off Coen's teasing with a flick of his wrist, it was all good natured and fun anyway. He started off without them, Coen was fast enough at a trot to outpace Karu anyday; even if Karu had a faster sprint overall; so being like that and taking off first didn't mean much. "So, we'll catch a show at the courtyard, get the house supplies ordered for pick up on the way home, then go explore. Sound good?" He was speaking more to Tsume than Coen or Roku, Coen would go with anything they did, and Roku was too busy burbling and trying to braid Tsume's hair to care what Karukaya said or did right then and there.

Tsume hurried outside with yet another giggle. After being helped into the wagon she was then joined by Roku which made her grin from ear to ear: she loved not having to ride alone. With Roku doing what she figured was attempting to braid her hair she listened to her father and Coen go back and forth, the whole exchange causing her to giggle up a storm. "You guys can take turns pulling me!", she suggested.

"Let's go, let's go!", she said happily as she watched her father take off. She loved going on these little trips because she loved spending time with her new family, so that was all of the motivation she needed to be more than ready to get the trip going.

Tsume shifted a bit, becoming more comfortable and ensuring a very comfortable trip. This was definitely going to be fun!~

"I pull better.~"

"Oh hush. Let's get going before we're late." He was a few feet ahead, not even far enough for Coen to not catch up in one bounce; what made the straps special was that Coen could get a decent leap in before they stopped stretching, so that he could cover a good distance when he needed to and not cause the wagon to jerk. once it was moving the straps tightened and pulled it up to where he was, allowing it to match his walking speed without issues, and bringing it up to speed so that she wasn't being left behind. The trip to the market wasn't long, they lived in town specifically because they all hated the concept of being aloof and away from the people they where supposed to be leading and guarding, plus Karu's original home had ended up perfect for them to use; especially once he'd bought out the couple of lots around it and expanded a bit. He'd made good on his original plans, buying out the old warehouses and such and tearing them down; allowing him room to make a nice sized addition to the house, plenty of training space, a wonderfully sturdy fence around the main area, and convert the extra space to parks for the local kids. Why not, it gave Coen something to do in his down time, the big 'roo had taken a liking to gardening and maintaining the 'park' space was perfect for him.

The advantage of living where they did in relation to the market, they ended up coming into at the food market; specifically the fresh vendors that sold fruits and the like. The bakery area was close by as well, which meant they had access to the best breads and stuff that Karukaya didn't make himself. It also meant they could get at the desert stuff whenever they wanted; even if they never admitted to it. Karu and Coen stopped just long enough to buy teas for everyone from a vendor that sold specialty fruit flavors, then they moved on toward the middle of the market area. In the center of all the market sections was a courtyard that was left mostly empty; vendors selling snacks and such stood around the edges, while the central area was taken up by performers of various types. There where areas where chairs and seating option where offered for anyone that wanted them, courtesy of the market vendors and the city itself, and that was where they made their way too first.

By the looks of the people setting up, the current performing group was a couple of off duty ninja, Karu even recognized one as a Tokujo that was always around the Jounin Rooms; so this would be interesting. Ninja loved to come show off new jutsu and skills, it gave them a way to keep the people happy, and compete with each other without things turning violent and dangerous. Hell, Karu and Coen would show up occasionally and 'spar' with each other for the shits and giggles, always in the afternoon when young children would be around to watch and enjoy. He was pretty sure he'd contributed to the high enrollment rates in the academy the years he did that, too.

"This will be good. The older one uses lightning and swords, the younger... I think he uses earth and hand scythes. Unless I'm thinking of his brother, at which point this one is archery and projectiles exclusively. Should be a fun show, specially if they're going to spar. You enjoy, I'm going to run and make orders." He shifted around Coen and to the wagon, moving to duck under the netting and place a kiss on Tsume's check before darting off to be an adult for a bit.

Once Karu was out of range, "What Dad got wrong was the younger one has two brothers, and this is the third. Fire and shuriken-based jutsu of all kinds. This is going to be awesome." After a moment the show began, as shown by the sudden explosion of fire everywhere. A literal explosion of sparrow shaped fire projectiles from the mouth. The crackling of electricity and a shining light of a chakra enhanced sword told that the other guy was ready too. Ninja spar times, go!

Yup, Tsume absolutely loved her wagon. It kept the sun off of her, it kept the bugs away, it was exceptionally comfortable, and to top it all off? It was fun!~ Even though the trip to the market was short given how close they lived it was still enjoyable and fun. Once her and everyone else's tea was acquired - her wrapping her legs around her own to keep it from spilling - it was off to the show.

Even in her wagon she had a prefect view of the set up and while listening to her father she looked around, curiously. She was excited to get to see the display of abilities: even as young as she was Tsume knew the basics of some things - mostly stuff she watched and learned from her parents. So, to get to see something perhaps a little powerful than what she herself knew? Yes, please!

When her father ducked in and gave her a kiss on the cheek she giggled and then waved. "Okay. Bye bye daddy!" She watched her father until she couldn't see him anymore and then looked to Coen as he spoke. Her lips formed a little 'o' of excitement and curiosity and then her attention shifted as it became clear that the two ninja were ready. A grin spread across Tsume's face from ear to ear in her excitement and she leaned forward a bit; her focus completely and totally on what was about to happen.

Coen was settling down in that standing sit of his, arms crossed across his chest in a way that no normal kangaroo could do. As he aged, his ninja 'roo heritage had grown far more apparent; where as normal kangaroo had sort of long raptor arms that always stuck directly outward, as they where still just modified legs that where used at such, ninja 'roo where more human-shaped out of necessity; they had nearly hominid-type ball and socket joint in their shoulders, with very dexterous digits in their paws, up to a proper opposable thumb.

He was settled very close to the wagon, more because of the lack of space in relation to his large frame than any worry that Tsume was in any sort of danger. It also helped to cast more shade on her, while still keeping her warm thanks to his naturally high body heat. Hell, it even helped to keep the last of the bugs away, and Roku enjoyed being close to his brother, while still playing 'defender' to his sister.

"Watch, little one. They're starting." The sound and smell of lightning was unmistakable, and the gentle rise in ambient heat that everyone but them could feel; seriously, Coen was extremely warm, and pumped out more heat than most fire-ninja; told them that things where starting. This was going to be a basic spar under the guise of a show of skill to the audience; as instead of starting on each other, they where literally showing off. Six shuriken per hand of the younger, suddenly on fire and thrown into the air so that he could juggle them. The sword user was charging his blades until the lightning energy arced from the blades, which he began to mold and manipulate via movements of the blades. He was shaping the lightning into animals and shapes which then danced and moved around the blades and the air around the two of them; this was more akin to control practice than a spar, and the crowds loved it.

"Hmmm... We should work on your shuriken training this week. Sound like fun, little one?"

Happy child was happy. There was no mistaking it either: the ear to ear grin on her face and the way she was leaning forward with rapt attention were proof enough without the child literally radiating happiness like she was. There was no hiding she was enjoying what she was seeing while also paying close enough attention to actually begin learning from what she saw: it was simply how she learned best after all. Tsume had always learned by watching others first and then trying things herself. Of course the only element that had yet begun to present itself for her use at the moment was water, but that didn't mean she couldn't watch and pick up techniques regardless even if she'd end up using them differently in the end.

It wasn't until the idea of her starting to train with shuriken that week did her attention shift at all and a happy squeal of a noise actually escape her: rare for the nearly selectively mute child. She nodded her head yes several times while shifting her attention back onto the show so that she didn't miss anything going on. "Yes! Yes yes! When can we start?" If Tsume could get any happier it would be right then and there: in fact if she was told they could start training right at that moment she would likely leave in an instant because learning and practicing was about as much fun to her as playing with toys was for other kids. She was a weird one, but it was why she fit in so well with their lovely odd family.

With her tail now wiggling away due to her happiness Tsume picked up her tea carefully and took a sip. The liquid hitting her tongue suddenly bringing a question to her mind. "If the one with the lighting touches his own will it hurt him? And if the one with the fire touches the fire be created will it burn him?" Weeeeee!~ Let the learning begin!

"Happy!" Roku was burbling in his usual adorable way, so long as he was in his infant human form, he had few spoken words, and what he did use was pure adorable. He only ever spoke in reactions to emotions, too, so it was a good sign when he said things like that.  Coen was highly amused by this, while still being in that 'oh my various gods, I love these children ' mood; flashing his oddly toothy smile even as he focused on watching the show.  "We can train later tonight, if you have the energy after dinner and such. I'm better with projectiles than Dad is, so I'll work with you some."

He reached into one of his many pouches and pulled out a small wooden shuriken and slipped it into the netting for her to play with. He'd learned originally using a similar 'toy', he used modified kunai and shuriken due to his hands being shapped differently than a human's, and he'd rather she first learn with the less dangerous wooden tools than risk her pretty hands being cut up.

"You become immune to your own elements. It's how Dad and I can be so warm, but don't hurt ourselves. After a while, you adapt to the people around you, too. After a few months, we we're able to resist Temaki and Jayr's explosions,  and they can handle our fire like it's nothing. I think the only issue any of us still have is with Dad's Nova chakra, but he keeps that well sealed unless he absolutely needs it. Pretty soon, you won't be burned by us either, we'll just feel pleasantly warm, even when we're using our strongest fires. Your mother's will be able to explode around you without worry. Adaptability is our greatest strength."

Tsume heard Roku exclaim happy and she giggled softly: it was definitely true. Smiling still from ear to ear she shifted slightly, turned her head, and gave Roku a kiss on the cheek: affectionate child was afffectionate after all. "So silly.", she said happily before shifting her attention back to Coen as she listened to his explanation.

The information was processed through her mind relatively quickly: it made sense after all: and brought up a new question in her mind. If people who spent a lot of time around others could become immune to their elements, then did that mean her family could pick up on her own unique ability? "Does that mean that if you guys spend a lot of time around me you'll be able to breath underwater like I can? 'Cause I can spend a very, very long time under the water and it doesn't bother me. Well... 'cept when the scary monster fish show up, then I leave because I don't want to be fish food."

Despite the show going on she kept her attention now focused completely on Coen. Her thirst for information was greater than her need or want to watch what was going on: she was much more interested in the question she had asked being answered than the display of neat tricks going on just a short distance away. Besides, this was the first time she had bothered to mention to anyone in her new family that she had the ability to remain underwater indefinitely, so that was a thing too. Weeeee!~

"Oh? You breath water? Well, from what I understand that's more I'd an acquired skill, for those not born able to do it. I bet if we tried, we could find a way. I know there are wind jutsu that give you air bubbles to breathe add the like, but I don't know if anyone without water chakra natures can learn to breathe water naturally. It's not a huge issue, there are tools and masks that let you breathe underwater just fine, they use them in the fishing villages on the coast."

"What about breathing water, now? " Karu had walked up while they where talking,  his nose in the invoice detailing what was being gathered for them to pick up later. "We planning a trip to the coast without telling me? " He pocketed the document and moved to stand beside the wagon, eyes focused on the flaming shuriken flying around the arcing swords and cheering crowd. "Huh, it's the youngest brother. Oh well. By the sounds of it, you're not watching the spar anymore. Shall we go raid the weapon stalls? Lunch?  Whatever you want to do, Tsume dear. "

She listened to Coen, a thoughtful expression on her face as she did so. It was almost sad to hear that not everyone could breath water like she could, but yet rather interesting to hear that there were devices and other abilities that allowed for a similar effect. Definitely interesting indeed. When her father returned she simply giggled. "I can breath underwater, daddy. I've always been able to.", she said rather proudly. It was one of those skills she liked so much: something she was good at that didn't take effort or training to perfect. As natural as any skill could be.

At her father's question she grew thoughtful once more, tongue slipping out between her lips as she thought long and hard. "Can we get food? My belly is talking and growling. It sounds kinda grouchy." And sure enough her stomach was growling and roaring up a storm; the delicious tea she was currently take a sip of not exactly enough to keep her rumbling belly at bay. For being so little she tended to eat quite a bit; though that had more to do with having the ability to eat now until she was full than a fast metabolism.

"I want to try a food I haven't tried yet."[i], she added thoughtfully. She rather enjoyed getting to try new things, and it was sort of a game to her in a way.

"Food would be nice, actually. I was getting hungry going over the list with the stall owner. I don't know why they even ask, we order the same list every month or so; it's never really changed much. Coen, Roku? Hungry?"

"Snacks!"

"I don't turn down food, Dad."

"Awesome. So... something new. Hmmm... Well, have you tried Bánh mì? It's a really tasty kind of stuffed sandwich that they make with seasoned meats or thickly sliced vegetables, covered with a bunch of toppings and a really tasty spicy sauce. They're wonderful, but can be hard to get done right in this part of the world. However... I do know one place that does them well. If you want, we can try it. They make all kind of awesome noodle dishes too."

Everyone seemed to be in agreement about grabbing a bite to eat which was good considering that Tsume's belly was growling up a storm by this point. Some people's stomachs growled or grumbled quietly while her's was like a monster suddenly roaring to life; even with everything going on around them she could still hear it - though, that could have had something to do with her slightly enhanced hearing. "That sounds yummy, daddy! Let's go! Let's go!", she exclaimed excitedly.

Her ear to ear grin was back, plastered onto her face once more: she had barely stopped smiling since she was adopted, so it was a normal thing for her now. She clapped her hands excitedly; as if a lack in movement would cause her to explode with joy and happiness.

"Are mommy and momma coming? Or are they still busy? We should surprise them by getting them some lunch!"

"I actually don't know. They may, from what I was told they where going to be fairly busy, but nothing that major. We might just find them appearing behind us when we get food. We can always order something for them and take it home, they can have it for dinner. Sound fair?" He was moving through the crowds, acting as a sort of plow to open space for Coen to pull her along without risking anyone being hurt, especially her. The stall was a fair walk, but not that far; it was on the far side of the produce market, where they had the most exotic fare; it was easier to get the spices and such they needed there.

"So I heard you and Coen talking about training. If you want, I can take another day off and we can train too. Coen can help you with shuriken, I can teach you how to run properly. What do you think?"

Tsume nodded her head up and down happily with a smile: bringing them home something for dinner was just as appealing as bringing them lunch - honestly, Tsume just liked being helpful and thoughtful so it worked out perfectly regardless. "That sounds good, good, good!", she responded before giggling out loud.

As they moved she found herself looking around: she was quite comfortable in her wagon with Roku and never had to worry about being in the way or worse getting stopped on. All in all it was the perfect place for her: Karu and Coen stood out far more than she did which meant she never had to worry about really being bumped into or anything as long as everyone around was really paying attention.

"Yes, yes, yes! I like that idea! I want to become super strong like you and my brothers and mommy and momma!" She happily clapped her hands, super excited.

"Well, there's more to being strong than just physical strength, or even strength of will and mind. It takes a combination of things to be strong, but I just best you have what it takes to get there, with time. None of us got to where we are overnight after all." He was chuckling, really; it was a reaction of pride as much as amusement. She was well suited for the grueling task of becoming a ninja, with her thirst for knowledge and love of work; and she had enough wisdom even in her short few years of life to not make the mistakes many children did when they chose this life.

The smells around them where changing, no longer was everything mundane and familiar, scents and sights where becoming... decidedly odd, in their own way. Oh, it was still a normal market, with normal people, but the wares being sold where completely different. They'd hit the exotic market, finally; which meant that they weren't far off from the stand. He could smell the cooking meats and such, which normally wouldn't appeal to him, but he was rather hungry, and he wasn't a total vegetarian. He was all for a nice burger and the like on occasion, he just kept to a diet more fitting of his family. Although to be fair, the number of carnivores in the family had offset that original nearly vegan lifestyle; but balance had long since been found.

"Ah, here we go." He moved just passed the stand so that Coen could pull the wagon up, and then he lifted the netting to lift Tsume out of the comfortable seat. He shifted her up so that she was settled in his arms in that way that was balanced and let her wrap her legs around his chest, and her arms around his neck for extra support. The stall was one of the type that was dedicated entirely toward serving food, so there was a small little seating area roped off for the patrons to use. Coen unhooked the wagon and pulled it so that it was out of the way of everyone else, and started moving a pair of tables so that they where close enough together for them all to sit comfortably together. Even with two small children, Coen and Karu took up a pretty good amount of space. Small tables, smaller chairs, yeah. While Coen did that, Karu worked his way up to the counter, greeting the proprietor in a language that no one else would understand; but got a rather animated, but happy, reaction from him. Karu didn't speak many languages fluently, but he'd picked up more than a few at a conversational level.

He ordered their food, rambling off in that odd language for several solid minutes as he basically ordered the entire menu and then some; finishing off with a set of drinks for them to enjoy while they got to work. The drinks where produced with surprising speed; sweetened and spicy fruit juices of exotic origins for them to test out. Once they where made, they where placed in one of those cardboard drink carriers that everyone used, and he set down what to anyone else would be a massive pile of coins. Money had long since stopped being an issue in his world; his base salary alone for his position as a vet at the wildlife centers more than paid the bills; combine that with his medic ninja pay and his mission income? Yeah, he could easily fund their lifestyle without worry. Now add in what Temaki and Jayr brought to the table? Pffft, what was money to those that didn't need it. It was why they ended up giving most of it away; donations to the local causes and such that matters; they basically funded the local schools and orphanages by themselves, even without the governmental subsidies and such they'd enacted. The massive wildlife conservation funds and facilities was all Karu, too. Yeeeep. It was good to no have to worry. He took the drink carrier in his free hand and moved toward the tables, setting it down in the center of the one he was sitting himself at after he was done setting Tsume down on one of the chairs that had a few of the cushions and such form the wagon made up for her comfort, courtesy of Coen being an awesome big brother. He fished the drink out, handing the largest to Coen, taking the next largest for himself, and handing Roku the tiniest one. He took the remaining one and offered it to Tsume, "It's a ix of passionfruit, starfruit, some little citrus fruit I can never remember the name of, and mint, with a little kick of spicy pepper. It's really good, taste it.~ The sandwiches and such will be ready soon, they'll bring it to us. I kind of ordered most of the menu, but your brother and I eat like elephants, so it was kind of needed."

Oh! Oh! This area of the market smelled wonderful! Tsume might not have had the epic senses of the rest of her family but she could definitely tell the difference as they ventured onward. Things went from being familiar to different: and different was by no means bad. Her stomach roared to life once more as they went, making almost a constant noise at this point. "I like the way this area smells!", she would comment as she was removed from the wagon and held; wrapping arms and legs around her father and able to get a better look around from her new height advantage.

She listened to her father order food in a language she hadn't heard before, nor understood, and simply kept quiet as she looked around: there was more than enough to see to keep her well occupied for the moment - plus, she was simply never a fussy child. She simply remained still and quiet as usual minus the constant movement of her head and ears as she tried to take everything in that was going on around them.

With food ordered and drinks gotten she found herself being placed in a chair with rather familiar pillows: something she figured that Coen had done, and which helped to keep her rather level with the table to boot - short girl problems 101.

Comfortable and happy she took her drink and sniffed it curiously; the smell coming from it was nice and rather interesting after all. A small sip followed, and then a bigger one as she realized just how very delicious the contents of the cup were. "Yum!", she bothered mentioning out loud in a burst of random happiness.

Attention then shifted back to her father at his comment and she couldn't help but giggle. "One day I want to see an elephant. They look very, very big. I bet i'm tiny like a mouse compared to them." Tsume loved animals, and it was something that would definitely make her day - though, that could be said for any animal she got to see.

"Actually, we can do that next week. There is a traveling circus that comes through the village every year, and I'm very good friends with animal handlers. I actually saved the life of the matriarch elephant years ago, back before you where born and I was a freshly promoted Chunnin, and your mother's student. Fun times, back then. She might only be a year or so older than me, but she was already Rakuenkage when we first met, and I was just a Genin. I was a bit of a shooting star, in a weird way; I took stupid risks that paid off and got promoted fairly quickly; but I also worked hard and got strong enough to justify my promotion pacing. Anyway, we where actually taking the night off, Coen and I, this was before Roku was even born; and we'd gone to see the circus, cause he was curious. We'd gone up early to help them finish setting up and such, and right about the time we finished getting the main tent and what not up, the elephant herd started panicking and when we ran to see what was wrong, we found the matriarch going insane and attacking people, as well as your Mother running to see what was happening. We ended up managing to save the old girl from something that was causing her to mutate and rampage, without hurting her, mostly; and after that we ended up getting to be really good friends with her handlers and the circus in general. I can get you into the restricted areas, so you can meet the elephants and play with them. They love children."

"They love me, too. That one young bull always wants to play-fight with me; but he's getting too big for that now. I might be stronger, but he's 40ish times my size by now."

"That's why you use the command the handlers taught us to control them."

"Yeah, but that's boring. It's more fun to just humor him and knock his lights out when he gets overly affectionate. I don't hurt him, obviously, but he has more fun that way."
