Each village has it's own unique history and story, beyond just the lore of the world itself. Each has something that makes it special, different from the rest. Climates, cultures, tastes, laws, you name it. A shared history of diversity and personal growth over the ages.

You know the lore of the world. This is the world of the villages.

Yokuchigakure no Sato

The glittering Jewel of the Desert. Ancient merchant capital. An oasis that has thrived in the blazing heat and harsh world of the great desert for ages untold. The oldest of the villages, at least according to recorded history, Yokuchi has consistently been an economic and military powerhouse for the length of recorded history. No one really remembers the founding of this great place, nor do they remember the names and achievements of it's original settlers and earliest kings. Legends tell of great kings and sultans that brought the hidden wealth of the desert and the strange lands beyond the far western sea; libraries with scrolls and books so old that they crumble under a feathers touch read in strange, forgotten tongues. They sing tales of ancient knowledge, coded and hidden in the pages, indecipherable to all but the most dedicated monks and scholars.

Ninja, warrior monks, soldiers, mercenaries; all manner of battle caste peoples live within the village. The current ruling caste utilizes the ninja as their fighting force, with the classic Kage in charge of the military and much of the civilian aspects of the village; with an unknown and unnamed Sultan the 'true' ruler. In realty, this is just a placation of the nobility and super rich that care not for the day to day necessities of the village, so long as they can live in luxury in their enclaves and never have to meet an 'undesirable', otherwise known as anyone outside of their closed little world.

Even among the poor and downtrodden, there is a sense of plenty. Market goods are inexpensive, if you know where to look, so even the street rat picking pockets can eat well enough not to suffer terribly. Dozens, if not hundreds, of schools dot the village, catering to an almost innumerable number of religious and scholarly sects, as well as feeding into the ninja cram schools and academy. People of Yokuchi live prosperous, relatively easy lives deep in their desert home; but they are not to be taken likely. The harsh desert creates hardy peoples, and even in times of peace and prosperity, the desert people are ready to take on anything that comes their way.

Buffs: +1 rank power to all Katon jutsu; +1 rank power to Sand jutsu within the confines of the desert.
Debuffs: +1 rank damage from all suiton jutsu. -1 rank damage, power, and ability to all shadow jutsu and abilities. - 1 rank damage, power, and ability to all suiton jutsu and abilities.

Hinowagakure no Sato

Hinowagakure no Sato. Village Hidden in the Ring of Fire. A tropical paradise surrounded by dense jungles, endless waterfalls and rivers, and ringed by grasslands and open savanna. Long a tourist mecca due to the varied landscape and nearly perfect weather most of the year; the numerous natural host springs have given rise to a massive resort industry which helps to fuel the rest of the village by providing ample work with good pay to the civilians, and allowing the ninja a nearly endless supply of work, leading to a well funded and happy military.

The civilians are extremely friendly and welcoming in general; they have to be, as the village relies heavily on the fact that people want to come, and come back; bringing in huge amounts of money that otherwise wouldn't be found in the economy. Even with the plentiful and lush forests to use otherwise, the locals prefer the ecotourism and hospitality economy, as they like their jungles and don't want to destroy them for a profit that would only last a few generations, versus what is essentially an endless resource.

While a warm climate, Hinowa has nothing on Yokuchi, even with the village residing in the caldera of a dormant volcano. They still see snow, on rare occasions, and while hot, it's usually a fairly wet, tropical heat that is never more than uncomfortable, and easily dispelled with a warm tea or cold shaved ice.

The government is fairly typical, with the civilian side of the village run by a council full of businessmen and politicians, and the military being ninja standard, with a Jounin Council and a Kage running the show.

Buffs: +1 rank power to all Doton Jutsu; +1 rank power to all Ganshouton (Magma Release) jutsu within the confines of the region.
Debuffs: +1 rank damage from all Hyoton (Ice) and Fubukiton (Blizzard Release) jutsu. -2 ranks ability and damage to all Hyoton and Fubukiton jutsu.

Amagakure no Sato

Amagakure no Sato is the Village Hidden in the Heavens; and the name is highly appropriate. Seated on a massive floating island in the clouds, this village is an idyllic place of heaven on earth. The island itself is large enough to fit the village, all the farm land needed to comfortable feed it's people, and even a small mountain range; highly popular with locals and visitors alike for it's plethora of climbing trails and gorgeous visages.

Sky diving, paragliding, and ballooning are extremely popular sports in Ama, as is diving, snorkeling, and scuba diving thanks to the massive sea port down below. The Port of Dreams is and extension of the main village, with a thriving natural seaport and the largest airport in the world sharing the same island. Access to Amagakure is manly channeled through the Port, however many of the smaller inhabited islands, both in the air and in the sea, have airfields that allow for access to Amagakure when weather allows.

The government of Amagakure is typical, with a Kage and Jounin council ruling over the village. It's military is smaller than most major villages, due in large part to a lack of need for a large military complex thanks to the protection of the sea and it's floating nature. Of all the villages, Amagakure is the only one that can claim to have never been invaded.

Buffs: +1 rank power to all Fuuton jutsu. +1 rank to all Koton (Light Release) jutsu. Flight granting skills/jutsu/items costs are reduced. (-1 rank jutsu/item, reduced ryo cost)
Debuffs: Natives of Ama cannot take Doton until their tertiary element, and all Doton techniques used deal 1 rank lower damage. They take +2 ranks damage from all Doton jutsu.

Hanagakure no Sato

The Village Hidden in the Flowers is the technological marvel of the world. Science reigns supreme here, although a smaller subset of the old ways still hangs on. Different from the other villages in almost every way, the people of Hana reject the classic ninja world and forge their own way; replacing magic and superstitions with technology and knowledge. They view the ninja of the other villages as backwards simpletons explaining away their abilities using militaristic mysticism instead of trying to truly understand and harness their powers.

The Military and government of the village wholly reject the ninja governments of the other villages. Military rule is law here, and the Commander General is the highest power around. Soldiers and their officers use a completely different system of ranks and powers to run their military, and while the ninja rely on chakra and ninjutsu; the people of Hana are protected by weapon masters known as Weapon Technicians, whom stand toe to toe with the backwards ninja using their mastery of their weapons and the scientific understanding of the power that drives 'chakra'.

Buffs: Hana natives have access to Weapon Technician as their primary specialty. +1 ability and power to all Weaponry-based specialties (Weapon Technician, General Weaponry, Kenjutsu, Kyuujutsu)
Debuffs: Weapon Technicians receive an automatic and permanent -1 rank power, ability, and damage to all non-weaponry based specialties. If a Weapon Technician is separated from their WT-related item, they lose access to all jutsu and abilities tied to the Weapon Technician specialty. However, if able to recover an item or weapon of similar nature, they are able to fight at equal base power to someone with the appropriate weapon specialty (Sword using Weapon Technician can fight with a sword like a Kenjutsu user, just without access to any jutsu they don't know, etc etc.)

Fubukigakure no Sato

Located in the frozen wastes of the far north, Fubukigakure no Sato is the Land Hidden in the Blizzards, and for good reason was it given it's name. For 10 months of the year, blizzards and storms rage across the tundra and bury the village in layer after layer of snow. While this would be a death sentence to most; the hardy northern people of this land have not only adapted, but they thrive in this climate. Using the snow and ice to build their homes and structures means they never have to want for material, and the structures are never damaged by the storms. A series of natural and man made caves runs underneath the entire village, providing a safe heaven for the people to retreat to when needed, as well as housing a massive complex of green houses and farms that use the power of the naturally occurring chakra crystals as artificial suns. Glacial ice of supreme clarity and purity act as 'streets' above, and the 'sky' below, allowing for the rare natural sunlight to reach into the caves and allowing for those above ground to skate and sled quickly across the village with ease.

The peoples of this village embrace a mixed world; that of the ninja and of their tundra dwelling ancestors. Many of the people are at least partially bi-lingual, and the government uses the words and phrases of the people's ancient language for coded messages and signals. A Kage rules over the people, much as in the rest of the world, with a mixed council of village elders and high ranking ninja providing a governing council.

Buffs: +1 rank power Fubukiton jutsu, +2 rank power to Hyoton within the confines of the country.
Debuffs: Natives are unable to take Katon as an element. Receive +2 ranks damage from all Katon jutsu. Natives in hot regions (Hinowa/Yokuchi) lose 1 rank (-1 rank) of power to all Hyoton or Fubukiton jutsu.
