Mission taken:

The Commander General's office was in a panic. Officers scrambled around, trying to make sense of the reports pouring in from the countryside. Something about a 'demon' of some kind attacking people and burning down the forest. while normally, the report would have been dismissed as just someone seeing illusions via swamp gasses, but this.. this was strange. There were too many reports coming depicting the exact same thing; a creature made of fire, setting blaze to specific points within the forest, points that each provided something for Hana; the resevoir, the forests along the main trade routes. Too many instances to be just a coincidence. Something had to be done; an investigation of the reports, and finding the culprit.

Calling for his assistant, Xio Mishima, his order was simple; assemble all free soldiers at the west gate thirty minutes. As the young soldier left his office, Jai himself stood up and stretched; he had no intention of sitting this one out. He was tired of being cooped up in his office, and wanted some action. He was dressed for a day off, having been called in during one of his rare R&R sanctions: steel-toe boots under dark pants held up with a thick belt. His torso was clothed in a white short-sleeved shirt. After securing a wireless radio and combat pouch to his person, he snatched up Mangekyou and headed out the door where he was met by his secretary, Fao Lin. As they walked to West Gate, he relayed a specific set of orders to her: she was to personally oversee the rounding up of water release users within the military and have them deployed to the western forest in order to combat the fires. In addition, if this really was some sort of 'mystical' creature, Jai wanted it brought back, dead or alive to be studied.

As they arrived at the West Gate Jai took a look around, taking quiet note of the people whom were arriving. He would wait until they were he recieved a confirmation from the arriving Xio that this was all the soldiers he was able to gather.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

'Oh, hell no! Someone is not beating on my door like that at this time of the--- oh wait, it's definitely not that early.', a glance at the clock showed her. A groan escaped the female: she had spent several days after her sudden and slightly irrational appearance change – at least her hair was no longer her weakness - training her ass off, and had spent the past sixteen hours sleeping.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Right, okay. This was definitely beginning to piss her off. Someone had better be hurt; missing a limb or dying. Jayr threw the covers off of herself – a glance in the mirror showing her that her pink hair that faded to blue and purple at the ends was still neatly in pig tails – and got up and out of bed. She stormed out of her bedroom, into the living room, and threw open the door – startling the man in full uniform on the other side. Jayr was about to open her mouth and go off on the guy, read him the riot act and likely put the poor bastard in tears, but the panicked look on his face stopped her in her tracks from doing precisely that. ”What's going on?” What had happened? Was her father okay? Was the village being attacked? What about her sister? A hundred questions flew through her mind but she only asked one.

”You're needed at the west gate; we need all the help we can get. I need to inform the others. And then he was gone, heading off to do probably exactly what he said he was going to do. Which, only succeeded in both pissing Jayr off as well as making her worry even more.

Jayr left the door open and she turned and ran back into her bedroom: if the situation was that severe then there was no time to actually get properly dressed – her white tank top, black short sleeved over shirt that hung off her shoulders, black shorts that went halfway down her thighs, and black combat boots would just have to do – the combat boots of course being added quickly as soon as she reached her bedroom. She snatched the two gold bracelets and anklets that were actually her weapons off of her dresser and put them on. She grabbed her belt that her weapons pouch hung from and put it on as she ran out the door – stopping only to close the door behind herself.

She finished buckling her belt on properly just as she reached the gate; her father easily spotted among the others who had shown up. So, it was to her father's side she moved, knowing he would give her the answers she was searching for. She glanced to the other gentleman who was introducing himself before her gaze rested steadily on her father. “What's going on?” Jayr held back a yawn, shrugging off the mental tired feeling and putting her head into the game: apparently she had completed all of her training just in time...

*Pop* The pink matter in the Captain's maw bursted into shreds as he drew the gum back into his mouth and began to chew again. Doing nothing productive to the village with his day, he found himself in a that was distanced near the outside of the village. Still within the walls of the prison of course, God forbid he leave, but at such an altitude and distance where he felt rather dis-attached from the hive of worker bees. Watching over the hive from this sturdy oak tree, Kotaro had his eyes shifting between a manga and the village. In this bit of literature, the Captain was following the adventure of an idiotic mercenary who was lucky he wasn't beheaded by the others in his own caravan due to his obliviousness and inexperience with the world. Often he found himself getting the band of cutthroats wrapped up in more trouble than they needed or pursued by government officials. It wasn't anything amazing, but it kept him busy on days like this, days where nothing happened.

Or so it seemed, it was always to good to be true to find a day where someone with the Captain title could go undisturbed. A pebble lightly tapping against the side of his head, the crimson headed vulture was made to look down to the base of the tree where a young boy stood looking up at him. "Kotaro some Soldiers are gathering up all the other Soldiers and some Captains at the West Gate." Kotaro looked from the boy to his manga and noted the page number before looking out towards the West Gate. From where he was he could barely make out the enlarged mass, but it did have a bit more congestion or traffic headed there than usual. "Alright thanks for the message, hold onto to this for me yeah?" Descending the tree branch by branch, Kotaro handed the boy no older than ten his manga and grabbed his Triple Bladed Scythe which rested against the tree's base. No one ever knew when they'd need to be armed and being prepared paid off today. Putting on a cloak that was spun out of ebon threads, he slid the cable length of the Triple Bladed Scythe down a sleeve to where it attached to a hook on his waist. The child watched all of this with wide eyes, the boy being one who Kotaro found constantly watching and "spying" on him. Then safely placing the weapon his his back, with a single hand seal he vanished with a swirl of wind.

This light whirlwind would then spawn the body of Kotaro many meters away in the heart of the city on the rooftops. Swiftly approaching the West Gate which was only about 75m away, Kotro stopped at the edge of the rooftop looking down at the gathered forces just in time to see the Commander General and one of the other Captains, the Commander's daughter, arrive. Hopping down safely onto the two of his feet, he shuffled through the masses with a messy dance approaching the Commander and those in his company. Nothing said, merely letting his presence speak for him, Kotaro blew another bubble of small volume as he looked out to the soldiers gathered waiting for the Commander General to speak or brief the people.

This was it? Only two people were able to be found? Fine, he would just have to make do with just them. Nodding to Leuitenant Bankai and his daughter, Jayr, Jai straightened himself up and began to speak.

"As you both know, we have yearly problems with wildfires around the village. This year was no different; You both have been dispatched to assist in dealing with the wildfires before. However, the situation has changed drasticly. As of four hours ago, we've began recieving numerous reports about a strange occurance; a fire 'demon' of sorts. Reports indicate that this creature has been behind the most recent string of fires, fires that have been set along the trade routes instead of the areas that normally burn in this weather." The Commander General paused for a moment, allowing this information to sink in before he continued. As he spoke, his assistant spread out a map of the country's roads and trade routes on a nearby flat surface, then becan to mark out various locations.  "For the moment, we're the only troops free to respond and investigate these reports. Based on the pattern of the fires being lit, we have reason to believe that it is heading along route Fourty Five, that connects into the route to here, the West Gate. That junction is located in a small town called Etherblade.. We want to intercept this 'demon' before he reaches Etherblade, and put a stop to his rampage."

Jai stopped once more, watching Jayr and Bankai for a moment, eyes taking note of the newcomer, another captain by the name of Kotaro Fuma. He had no clue how they wouold take the news of this, or what they were thinking. Well, at least Bankai or Kotaro; if he knew his daughter as well as he thought he did, she was willing to go out and try to do something about this. Either way, they had to leave now, if they wanted to save the the people of thier country. "Etherblade is three clicks away, and the last reported location of the demon is five clicks beyond that. We need to move if we are to stop this thing. I'm sure you have everything you're going to need -- there is no time to prepare for this. Lets move." Tightening his grip on Mangekyo, the Commander General led the way out the opening West Gate.

.oO(Skipping Bankai because I was told to for time purposes.)

Jayr listened closely to what her father was saying: the fires were indeed normal for this time of year. However, the report that came in four hours ago of a fire demon? Not normal. Already she could feel her adrenaline beginning to rush though she kept her face properly composed: hiding the grin that wanted to crack wide across her face. This fire demon according to her father was behind the most recent string of fires that had been reported: those along the trade routes.

Out of the corner of her eye she took notice of the newcomer, though she kept her gaze focused steadily on her father. Her face remained an emotionless mask as she continued to listen to him speak. This demon was heading along route Forty Five, and soon end up heading straight to Etherblade: because this was something they definitely needed to avoid they would have to intercept the demon before he reached Etherblade, which meant they had to get moving now.

Jayr was so on board with that plan.

She knew her father knew her well enough to know she would go because Jayr was by no means the type of person to sit back and let someone else handle a situation, especially one like this. Though if there was any doubt for anyone else the activation of her gauntlets and boots – the metal bands that looked like nothing more than gold bracelets and anklets suddenly making a series of clicking sounds as they grew and covered her hands up to her elbows, and her feet up to her knees – would certainly do the trick. She was as ready as she needed to be: she had her weapons on her, she knew better then to go anywhere without them. Perhaps she would even get a chance to try out some new tricks that she had recently learned.

Without a word spoken she followed after her father as he took off: she would follow the man into hell itself after all – and perhaps this would end up being quite close since they would be dealing with a fire demon after all. As she exited the West Gate the sound of huge paws hitting the ground could be heard behind her as ninja pet, Cana – a giant, all white wolf the size of your average horse with bright blue eyes and claw marks scarred across her nose – came running up – apparently the wolf was all on board with helping as well. Cana followed after Jayr without hesitation. With Cana by her side this was definitely going to get very, very interesting...

Throughout the course of the Commander's briefing Kotaro would nod in agreement to the plan, his eyes however were elsewhere. Out into the crowd people watching, his ears however were all for the Commander. His bubble popping, he thought about the recent events and agreed this 'Fire Demon' needed to be stopped. He was getting rather tired of constantly being dispatched to oversee Soldiers plow down forest fires, the wild life didn't seem to be much of a fan of these fires either. "Etherblade" He whispered to himself in thought. The village wasn't far out and could be reached surely before the demon could arrive, given it continued to travel at its current pace. Nonetheless, surely the team would move as fast as they could regardless if the Demon beat them or not.

Spitting the small volume of pink matter on the ground, Kotaro moved his jaws around a bit as they were sore from the constant chewing, probably why for once he wasn't talking everyone's head off. He didn't see it, but he felt it, the Commander was off and shortly after the female Captain was gone as well. Wrenching his eyes away from whatever it was he was staring at, Kotaro dashed off after them still wandering the depths of his mind in thought. How would he combat the Fire Demon. His wind techniques were surely out of the question given their amplifying effects on flames, so he'd rely on his earth jutsu. "Hmmm." He hummed in thought as he wondered what other tactics the others would attempt. He was curious as to what those fancy gauntlets the Commander's brat had did and how they contribute to the cause. Was the demon made of flames or did it have physical form to actually harm, Kotaro hoped it was the later so he could return to his manga all the sooner. An additional noise being heard behind him Kotaro turned to see the source of this pounding to see an overgrown wolf prancing behind them soon catching up the the other Captain. "This'll be quite the encounter." He thought out loud.

Right out the gate, the Commander General broke out into a run: he wasnt worried about everyone being able to keep up. If they were worthy of being called soldiers, surely they could keep up.The day was eerily quiet for what the group was undertaking. There was no sign of life any where: even the birds were quiet. As Jai ran, he couldn't help but begin to think, attempting to formulate a plan on how to combat this creature. He knew that Etherblade was situated on a deep lake; perhaps they could use that to their advantage? He personally didnt have water release, but he was able to form blades of water thanks to the water gem in Mangekyou, but that was as far as his power went with water. He knew personally that Jayr did not have water release; too many memories of things blown up during her tantrums confirmed this. Did his other Captain, Kotaro Fuma, or the Lieutenant, Bankai possess water release? Time would tell.

It wouldnt take them long to reach thier destination: as they came upon the village of Etherblade, Jai began to slow down. In the distance to the southwest, the sky was dark, almost black from the smoke caused by the fires. Gritting his teeth, the commander general looked back to his small group. He small plan, one that would possibly stall the fires so that they could get the villagers out and stop the spreading flames.

"Jayr. See what you can do about diverting some water from the lake so that we can make a moat of sorts to block the fire off. Kotaro, you and Bankai get into the village and speak to Elder Katsumi. Get the people organized and evacuated ASAP. We do not need civi casualties today. Move!"

Thank you, training. It allowed her to keep up with her father in ways she otherwise wouldn't have been able to: but, that was the type of person that Jayr was – she took her responsibilities seriously, and that meant her training and her ability to uphold her rank at all costs. She was far more of an adult then most adults – and that was saying something considering she was only fourteen years old. She had always felt she needed to prove herself more so then most people simply because she was the Commander General's daughter: she liked to prove she had earned her place, and not been given it, which was precisely the truth.

When they reached the scene, Cana running side by side with her and both coming to a stop at the same time, the first thing that Jayr noticed was the smell of water. There was a lake nearby, which could definitely come in handy: something that was apparently on her father's mind too as he began to give out orders. Jayr nodded to her father without hesitation and then took off with Cana on her heels to the edge of this lake – a plan was forming in Jayr's mind on how to do exactly what her father wished of her. It would be slightly dangerous, but it would work.

“Alright, listen Cana. I want you to use your Piercing Fang jutsu; aim a bit towards the ground so that you can carve into it. You see the fire in the distance? Aim for that and you'll carve a path in the earth that will carry water straight to it. I want you to surround the fire; keep it from being able to move or spread anywhere else. Got it?”, Jayr spoke quickly, knowing that time was of the essence. Cana, highly intelligent since she was a ninja pet, gave a bark of conformation. The wolf then threw herself forward as her body began to spin: becoming nothing more than a horizontal tornado that was nothing more than white and gray in color. This tornado that was Cana did exactly as Jayr had indicated: carving into the earth from the edge of the lake in such a way that she created a sort of waterway that was almost a foot and half deep thanks to the wolf's natural horse-like size. Cana, still spinning, headed directly in the direction that Jayr had indicated: aiming to surround this fire and likely the demon within it if everything worked out well.

Piercing Fang Jutsu (Cana):

Jayr meanwhile, had a plan of her own: lots of noise and lots of bullets were about to be used to help get this water moving: this would serve to not only keep any attention on herself and off of her wolf, but it also allowed Jayr to have a reason to blow shit sky high. Therefore, coating her feet in chakra, Jayr ran across the stable surface of the water to the far side: oh yes, things were about to get soaking wet.

Her gauntlets were already activated, which would save her a step as she began to channel her naturally explosive chakra through her gauntlets in the form of small many bullets: Explosion Release: Machine Gun. These small bullets began to fire rapidly from Jayr's gauntlets; both arms vibrating from the sheer force behind the power. When these bullets hit a source as a single hit they did little damage, but when one after another hit? That was where the power lay. Jayr aimed her Machine Gun jutsu at the water: causing it to swirl and circulate in the area of impact as the water was disturbed over and over again,  creating a vortex that would begin speeding up more and more as it was hit. Until it began to slosh up and towards the path that Cana was carving. It took several seconds but the water got the hint soon enough: it flowed right into the carved out area of earth – after that it was all gravity that caused it to begin to pour rapidly into this path and speed down it after Cana. Jayr kept up the jutsu long enough to ensure that the water would keep moving even after she stopped.

Explosion Release – Machine Gun (Jayr):

Cana was on a roll, literally, and the wolf was exceptionally fast: surrounding the fire filled area, as well as the fire demon itself: going by without notice due to the amount of noise and racket that Jayr herself was creating at the lake with her jutsu, as well as what was going on with the others who had arrived. This allowed Cana to effectively cross her own path, completely the hoop that would keep the fire demon from being able to escape. Cana, once she was sure she was a safe distance away from the fire itself, broke free from the jutsu and skidded to a stop, blue colored eyes searching out Jayr who was still on the lake...

Jayr deactivated her Machine Gun jutsu, but she wasn't finished yet. This demon had caused a lot of issues, more so then she even wanted to think about, and it was time to get a little payback. Jayr knew that fire hated water and while Jayr had no water jutsu per say that didn't mean she couldn't make it rain in her own way: so that's exactly what she was going to do.

Jayr took aim at the lake once more, channeling her explosive chakra into and through her gauntlets as she did before: only this chakra was shaped into a single bullet, or rocket as it was. Jayr fired this rocket straight at the lake which caused two reactions to happen: the first of which was the lake rising up like a large tidal wave that headed straight towards the fire while mist and droplets like rain sprayed everywhere especially on the fire which Jayr had been aiming for, the second reaction was that Jayr went flying backwards because of how close she had had to be to the water to make this effect happen. As Jayr began to fall back down, having been shot about fifteen feet into the air from the blast, she coated her backside with chakra so that as she hit the surface again with a grunt she skidded across the bumpy surface of the water instead of falling actually in the lake.

Explosion Release – Rocket Launcher (Jayr):

Jayr rose to her feet despite the pain from the knock back effect, her attention focused on the fire... had this worked? Or were they seriously that screwed?

Kotaro paced comfortably with the others to Etherblade not necessarily alarmed for the things to come. Could combatting the Demon be an issue? More than likely yeah, but with four heads working together and each being a high ranking officer and leader of the village altogether it wouldn't be an impossible task. Fiddling around on his person a bit as he was barked an order to accompany Bankai to the village, Kotaro stuffed a piece of gum in his mouth and gave an affirmative nod. "Roger that." The undertone of his words carrying something that hinted he was slightly amused, nonetheless he allowed the Lieutenant to lead him while the others had at the actual fun.

Glad Bankai knew who this Elder Katsumi guy was and where to find him, Kotaro eased back and let his subordinate go to work. Arriving at the residence, he watched the man get talked then lost interest as he began letting his eyes peruse his possessions. His ears catching bits of the conversation, he wondered if the Elder had a head on his shoulders that made him worthy of the title of Elder. Get bread he paid for? Psssh, if he didn't clear the village he'd be eating the last loaf of bread the damned baker made. Turning around to have a word in minor irritation, Kotaro saw the Lieutenant slap the man. Not exactly the approach he would take, but an approach nonetheless and an effective one it seemed.

With the wheels rolling for the evacuation effort, Kotaro was handed a flare for God knows why. Following suit of those on horse back, Kotaro headed out into the village and set his flare off in-sync with the others. People running quickly to leave the village through the course preset for them, Kotaro simply supervised and closed up the end of the citizens following in the far back of the line through the tunnel. His mind still on the things to come, it was apparent the Captain was rather mentally detached from the evacuation, but it was getting done regardless.

As the trio went thier seperate ways, Jai continued onwards towards the smoke in the distance: he was sure the three of them could handle thier respective jobs. For now, he had to see if the rumors of this creature's existance were true. While he was pretty sure it was just a figmentation of an old maid's overactive imagination; he couldn't help but wonder about it. He remembered the old legends, tales of creatures with incredible power that once roamed the lands. Creatures that were onces said to be indestructable -- creatures that were said to have been hunted and killed or captured by another legend, the invaders from another world. If this was indeed something beyond normal, then perhaps it was one of these creatures?

As Jai came upon fires he could hear several loud booming sounds, coming from the direction of Lake Etherblade.  He didnt turn to look, he figured that Jayr was using her explosion release to create the moat he asked for. Not that he would be able to see as is; the air was getting hazy from the smoke that was filling it. Pulling the collar of his shirt up to cover his nose, the male moved further into the forest. The air was hot and thick; Jai was beginning to regret not grabbing a rebreather before coming into this. "Shit, this is getting ridiculous. I won't be able to see shi--"

A deafening boom would cause him to jump, causing him to look back in the direction of the lake as a light rain began to fall.

Rain? What the hell? The sky had been clear when they were coming up.

Moving and jumping into a tree that was not currently feeding itself to flames so that he could get a better view. As he looked out towards the lake, he could see the water rising.

... Was that a tidal wave coming at him?

".....Can't take her ass NOWHERE!"

Wonderful. Just what the actual fuck did his daughter do?! Having no choice but to go higher lest he be swept away, the commander general jumped up the tree, praying to whatever gods where listening to that the tree was tall and strong enough to withstand what was about to happen. As the wave struck, the tree bent over, cracking and groaning in the wave. All Jai could do was hold on to the tree trunk as the water flooded through the forest, snuffing out the flames and causing steam to rise into the air.

From deeper in the forest, there came a horrible screeching sound. To Jai, it sounded like something dying -- perhaps it was the demon they were seeking? There was nothing to do but find out. As the water levels began to lower, the commander general used his thumb to  spin the dial on Mangekyou, roating the chakra gems within the sheath until here reached particular one. Grinning, Jai focused his chakra for a moment, before issuing the command. As a result, seven swords materialized in the air around him; four materialized from water thanks to the water gem in his sword -- the remaining three formed from his own natural yang nature chakra. These swords arranged themselves in the spiral formation: the tips of the swords pointed outwards from his waist, roating around his body. With this done, the male took off deeper into the water soaked woods as another shrill screech rang out.
